The former player has been handed a wide brief to help restore Rollers’ football power.

Township Rollers Football Club has appointed former player Edwin Moalosi as its new General Manager, as the club seeks to strengthen its leadership and restore its status among Botswana’s football elite.

Fresh Mandate

The appointment was announced by the club’s Executive Committee in a statement released on Monday. The committee expressed confidence that Moalosi has the experience and expertise required to oversee the club’s administrative and sporting operations.

Moalosi holds a degree in Communications from the University of South Florida in the United States and a BFA-C Licence coaching qualification. The club believes that combination positions him to bridge the administrative and technical sides of football management as Rollers work to revive their fortunes.

Broad Role

Rollers Chairman Thapelo “Fish” Pabalinga said Moalosi’s mandate includes running the club’s day-to-day operations while spearheading its long-term sporting strategy. He will also oversee player recruitment, contract administration, the academy and player development structures.

“He is also tasked with ensuring that the club complies with league regulations and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders, including players, sponsors, supporters, football authorities and commercial partners. We are of the view that he understands the club better, having played for the club for most of his career since childhood. He possesses the right skills, and we are very confident that he will steer the record champions back to prominence,” he said.

Rebuild Push

The appointment comes at a crucial period for Township Rollers, who are looking to rebuild and return to the summit of Botswana football after enduring difficult seasons. The club has been affected by financial pressure and a mass exodus of players and technical staff.

Pabalinga called on supporters and stakeholders to rally behind the new General Manager as he begins his tenure at the club.

“I urge all Township Rollers fans and stakeholders to give Moalosi full support as we work together to restore the club to its former glory,” he added.

Foundation Laid

Moalosi’s appointment marks another significant step in Township Rollers’ ongoing restructuring efforts as the record Botswana champions continue to lay the foundation for renewed competitiveness both on and off the pitch.
