Food and music enthusiasts are in for a treat at this year’s first Munchies Market slated for 11 March at the Game City Parkade in Gaborone.
Themed “ChefOnCall,” the event will feature two best friends who are also respected chefs, Musa Mhlasi and Kabo Olesitse, demonstrating various dishes, educating the public on products used and interacting with the audience.

Two’s better than one
“I’m a big fan of both Musa and Kabo, and when the team got together to make the selection, I was quite overjoyed,” event organiser, Drew Chadhall, told Time Out.
“We have always had only one headlining chef but the idea was to bring two this year. And who is better than best friends throwing it down in the kitchen!”

Unique
Chadhall said besides the fact that the two chefs will be sharing their love for food, the event will host stalls serving game meat, Ghanaian food, lerotse beverages and more, making it unique.
Munchies Market is an interactive event that boasts over 20 stalls that serve food, flavours, spices, chilli, pastes, beverages and more from different nations. The event is also complimented by the 1980s and ’90s theme, hence the 23-years-and-above demographic.
“South African legend DJ and producer Kent will be the after-party host to honour the 1980s and ’90s theme that the event has always maintained,” Chadhall said. “With over five years in existence, Munchies has always given people something solid and different to take home.”
Munchies Market niche
Like its sister events namely Bbq&Fam, Chillstep Sundays and WeAreTheSundayPeople, Munchies Market was created to provide a platform for emerging cooks, chefs and product suppliers to engage with people in a comfortable and free setting.
The platform discovers new talents, exposing them to buyers from big markets and organisations. To put up a stall at Munchies Market is free.
Chadhall concluded: “This is Munchies Market’s sixth year in existence and it happens twice a year under different themes, headliners and entertainers. This March edition, DJ Kent will host the after-party with Loungo King B and Gabs Diva.”
Tickets are available at Webtickets Kiosk at Riverwalk and Spar for P150, P250 and P500.
