The Botswana Defence Force Karate Open Championships scheduled for 20 June 2026 are set to bring together karate athletes from across Botswana in a national competition focused on development, discipline, and performance. The initiative is organised by the Botswana Defence Force and is positioned as a structured platform for athletes to compete at a high level while contributing to the broader growth of the sport.

According to Col Nlisi Hobona, the main objective of the championships is to promote karate development and provide athletes with meaningful competitive opportunities. “The main objective of the Botswana Defence Force Karate Open Championships is to promote the development and growth of karate in Botswana by providing a structured national platform for athletes to compete at a high level,” he said.
