The Botswana Volleyball Federation (BVF) is calling on sponsors to join them in hosting the Zone VI Volleyball Senior Club Championships, set to take place at Ditshupo Hall in Gaborone from 5 December to 15 December 2024.

The highly-anticipated tournament will bring together 64 clubs from 10 Southern African countries for thrilling volleyball action while providing significant opportunities for Botswana’s volleyball development.

BVF spokesperson Robin Seleka has emphasised the impact that this championship could have on the sport in Botswana. “This tournament is a unique opportunity for Botswana,” he said in an interview.

Worldwide attention

“It will provide increased exposure and recognition for volleyball in the country and attract attention from fans and players worldwide.

“For our players, it’s an invaluable opportunity to compete against top-level athletes, thus improving their skills and gaining international exposure.

The championship – which will feature teams from Botswana, Angola, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia, and Zimbabwe – will showcase some of the best volleyball talent in the region.

64 clubs competing

Participating teams earn their spot through performance in their local leagues, with top-ranking clubs securing qualification. With a total of 64 clubs competing, the event is expected to be a spectacle of skill and competition.

For sponsors, the Zone VI Volleyball Senior Club Championships presents a chance to align with a prestigious sporting event while contributing to the growth of volleyball in Botswana.

BVF is offering customisable sponsorship packages, ranging from title sponsorships to in-kind contributions, ensuring that sponsors receive maximum recognition.

Local communities

“Sponsorship for this event goes beyond branding,” Seleka noted. “Hosting this tournament will not only grow interest in volleyball but also foster greater participation and engagement within local communities. This will have a long-term impact on the sport’s development in Botswana.”

The championship’s economic benefits are also significant. By attracting players, officials and spectators from across the region, the event will generate increased tourism and local spending.

This economic boost, coupled with heightened community engagement, will make the championship a valuable occasion for both Botswana’s volleyball community and its broader population.

Brand visibility

BVF is keen to involve corporate entities, government agencies and local businesses to help make the event a success.

Sponsorship will provide brand visibility through banners, media coverage, and event programmes while also offering networking opportunities with government officials, sports enthusiasts and other corporate sponsors.

“Together with our sponsors, we can make this event an unforgettable experience and a milestone for volleyball in Botswana,” Seleka said.

Indelible mark

He added that the tournament’s global reach will raise Botswana’s profile in the volleyball world, helping to inspire a new generation of players.

With December fast approaching, the Zone VI Volleyball Senior Club Championships promise to unite Southern Africa through sport, showcasing volleyball talent and fostering economic growth.

BVF believes that with the support of dedicated sponsors, this event will leave an indelible mark on the region’s sporting landscape.
