Gabz FM presenter Petula El Kindiy and Hip Hop disc jockey, Dj Fauz El Kindiy have been appointed ambassadors of the local clothing line, Urban Soul.
Speaking to Time Out after the announcement was made in Gaborone by Urban Soul last week, Petula said she was happy to have been appointed ambassador for the store, saying it was an opportunity to represent, live and talk about the brand.
“We are happy and excited with this opportunity. This means we get to live and talk about Urban Soul. We both have worldwide visions for local brands and we would like to carry them with us everywhere we go and avail them to the world,” she said.
Dj Fauz who is Petula’s husband said being Urban Soul brand ambassadors will present an opportunity for growth for the clothing line and their own personal brands, “This is an exciting chapter in our lives, with an abundance of opportunities for our affiliates and supporters alike. We are looking at the growth of the Urban Soul brand which will also catapult us further,” he said.
For their part, Urban Soul said they were excited to be working with the talented the duo and vowed to continue recognizing and forging relationships with people like them who are focused, ambitious and highly disciplined. “As entertainers we believe your image constitutes a significant equity to your brand. Look out for these two out in the streets with some wavy look,” said Molefi Nkwete, owner of Urban Soul.
Commenting on what it means to be a brand ambassador, Petula, said “this development shows that the entertainment industry is a real industry that we can make a living out of: An industry that should be taken seriously and accepted.” She said both her and Dj Fauz were Hip Hop enthusiasts and were a perfect fit with the brand, “We are all about hip hop, Fauz is a hip hop DJ and I am also an enthusiast! The store’s merchandise is all about hip hop and that is how we are perfect fit,” she said.
The Urban Soul sells exclusive urban merchandise which includes sneakers, caps, t-shirts, sweaters, accessories among other items popular with the Hip Hop culture.
