Zebras defender Lesenya Ramoraka’s hopes of representing TS Galaxy in the 2020/2021 season have been dashed as he is till sidelined by a long term injury. Ramoraka was expected to be registered by the club in the January transfer window after he was not included in the squad after the team transitioned from Highlands Park to TS Galaxy after Tim Sukazi purchased Highlands Park’s premier league status.
When the league season started in October last year he was not a part of the TS Galaxy squad as he was still recovering from an injury. The club elected to register only 25 to 30 players, they excluded Ramoraka as they made a special reservation for the defender to register him in January.
20 days into the January transfer window the player has not been seen in and around the matchday squads in recent weeks, however any doubts about his future have been answered as the club is still adopting a patient approach with him as he continues his recovery. Since the player has not recovered well in time he will be forced to sit out the 2020/2021 season as he cannot be registered to play once the January transfer window has elapsed.
The sticking point is that he is currently under contract, if he was a free agent he would have been able to be registered at any point of the season. The news were confirmed by the player’s representative, Tumi Gabonamong of Isago Sport Management in a chat with Gazette Sport.
“Lesenya is not registered yet, he is still carrying an injury, he has not yet recovered. He will not be registered this season obviously, he knows his season is done since he is still injured” Gabonamong stated.
In November TS Galaxy owner Sukazi confirmed that the player was still recovering in Botswana when interviewed by South African publication KickOff. Sukazi’s statements hinted that the player is still in their plans despite not being registered yet.
“Remember he still got that injury, he is recuperating from home. He came with it from Highlands Park. We can’t say exactly when he is going to heal but at the moment he is in rehabilitation. But definitely he will be back before the end the season,” stated Sukazi.
TS Galaxy are still languishing in the relegation zone this season after a slow start to life in the DSTV Premiership. There is a danger that by the time Ramoraka returns next season they might be in the First Division.
